The idea of net neutrality is a fairly recent development in our internet dependent society. At its core Net neutrality is a struggle between the content providers and the service providers. The Service providers would like the ability to charge their customers for tiered service when it comes to their internet access, each tier of course providing different services and advantages. To go along with that they would like to be able to charge the content providers fees to make their sites load up. On the other hand the content providers want to preserve the internet as it is now, the service providers are not allowed to differentiate between data sent by one website from another. There are pros and cons for the consumer, content providers and service providers with both options, but the question is what will end up happening to our beloved internet?
Net neutrality is being fought for on many fronts one of which is a group who has started a movement called "Save The Internet". This group feels that net neutrality is key to keeping the internet alive because without it the internet will not a palace for the free exchange of information as it is now, but a construction of the corporate executives who will allow us to see only what they want us to. An example of a content provider/organization fighting for net neutrality is eBay. They have actively sent out emails to inform their members on the subject of net neutrality in order to strengthen its cause. For ebay a company that strictly provides content over the internet Net neutrality is important because money that they are making and the service they are providing will all become dependent on the Service if anti net neutrality laws are passed.
Now for the organizations that are against net neutrality. First off we have a group dubbed "Hands Off The Internet" it is a coillition of "internet users, manufacturers and network operators" who are fighting for the ability for service providers to be able to offer tiered service and preferential treatment to certain content providers on the internet. This group is fighting against the net neutrality laws that are being put forth to congress because they feel that the internet is a growing market that should be regulated by the customers not the government. The service provider Verizon is against the idea of net neutrality due to the fact that they would like to be able to hacve different pacages that offer different levels of service, and that is a natural occcurance in our society since we are in fact capitalists. This is a very delicate subject that could lean eaither way it is easy to c why verizon is choosing to side against net neutrality.
As for me I really can not say whether im against it or not ive read a good amount about the subject but i feel as though everything i have read has had some sort of agenda behind it so it has thrown me off. I think that until I have found information on net neutrality that seems genuinely neutral I can not make an educated decision either way.

Cybersquatting
Cybersquatting is a fairly controversial issue that until recently I had not really thought about. To me the idea of cybersquatting is wrong. To register somones name as a website and turn to them and ask them if they want to buy it from u because they are rich seems so unethical to me. While net neutrality is a sensitive subject i feel that cyber squatting is something that should be monitored and prevented. It is unjust for a person to register the name of somone else as a website for the sole purpose of profiting off it.
In the case of Nissan motors vs Nissan computer i feel that Uzi Nissan is completely in the right. He is trying to run a legitimate business that he had established while Nissan was still called Datsun. For Nissan to be a corporate bully about the situation and use there money to make the judicial process for Mr. Nissan as painful and expensive as possible in order to make him go bankrupt makes them worse than any cyber squatter out there. It would not be difficult for them to register Nissanmotors.com as a website but they have to act like spoiled children
because they were too late in trying to register the name. There is no validity in Nissan motors claims , Uzi Nissan is is only trying to do nothing more than run his business he has not tried to proffit by offering to sell Nissan motors the website because he knows that he is in the right, and if Nissan motors wasnt so money hungry and blind they could see that too

The Impact of the Internet
In the past decade the internet has become an essential part of our everyday lives. It wasn't until my freshmen year of high school that I really began using the Internet. I lived in the boonies of central oregon and my mom and i did not have internet access so the only time i used it was with the slow connection my school at the time had. And even then i only used the internet for research not for email, social networking or anything else. That all changed when i moved to California for high school. My dad had dsl so i had internet access in my room which at first i didnt use, but my new friends soon turned me on to myspace and instant messaging which changed my whole perspective when it came to the internet.
This is where alot of my use from the internet comes from. In the beginning i was a myspace addict jsut like every other high school student at the time and that coupled with instant messaging proved to be very volitaile. This is one of the way the internet has had a negative impact on me. Since it was soo new to me to have this access at my fingertips I started to get hooked on it. after my home work was done id spend my free time on myspace and instant messaging which is fine in moderation but i did it in excess. But after a few months it lost is flare and jsut became a normal part of my life and i didnt spend nearly as much time online as i had been.
Now days my internet use is a daily habit but it is a balance between recreation and work. Research for projects, grades, assignments and much more tend to be posted online so the internet has become a necessary tool for every college student. I do have to say one of the ways the internet has affected me in a good way is definitely facebook. With this social networking tool I have been able to get in touch and reconnect with friends i had fallen out of contact with for years. In my opinion it is one of the best sites on the internet.
So all in all my experience with the internet has varied ive had good and bad instances when it comes to the internet but without it life would be very different and i cant imagine life without it.
